Outstanding schools must be seen to support the improvement of other schools. Teaching schools give outstanding schools a leading role in the training and professional development of leaders at all levels, including Head Teachers, teachers and support staff, as well as contributing to the raising of standards through school-to-school support.
In March 2013, Bedonwell Infant and Nursery School was awarded Teaching School status. We are named the Bexley Teaching School Alliance (BTSA).
We run the Outstanding Teacher and Improving Teacher programmes and the Aspirational Leaders of learning programme. Our Leading Teachers give demonstration lessons to teachers both within our own schools, from other Bexley schools and neighbouring boroughs. We have received positive feedback regarding the significant impact these programmes have had on improving the quality of teaching and learning in the classrooms of the delegates as well as within a wider whole school context.
As a Teaching School and National Support School, we benefit from working closely with others, observing best practice in other settings and bringing those ideas back to our own school to enhance what we do for the benefit of all children and their families.
We look forward to the continuing challenging and exciting times ahead and aim to further develop our strengths and expertise in our relentless drive for further improvement for all pupils.
